This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on theglasslampco.com, what each group is for, and how to change your choices. You can change them at any time: open Cookie settings, or use the “Cookie settings” link at the foot of every page.

The short version

  • Essential cookies are always on. The shop cannot work without them.
  • Visit statistics are on by default, because UK law allows cookies used only to measure how a site is used, so that it can be improved, without asking first. You can switch them off at any time in Cookie settings.
  • Advertising cookies are off unless you choose “Yes, accept all” or switch Advertising on.

Essential

These keep your basket, take you through checkout securely, remember your cookie choices and protect the site from fraud. They are set by Shopify, which hosts our shop, and by us.

  • cart, cart_currency, localization, secure_customer_sig and similar Shopify cookies: your basket, currency, region and sign-in. Up to 1 year.
  • _tracking_consent (Shopify) and glc_cc (ours): your cookie choices. 1 year.

Visit statistics

These tell us, in aggregate, how the shop is used: which pages are visited, where visitors arrive from, and where people get stuck. We use them only to improve the shop. They are not used to show you advertising.

  • Shopify analytics (_shopify_y, _shopify_s and related): visit and session counts. Up to 1 year.
  • Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_6T25LJ4G6V): visit statistics. Up to 2 years. Unless you have accepted advertising cookies, Google Analytics runs with its advertising features switched off.
  • Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk): shows us how pages are used, such as scrolling and taps, so we can fix layout problems. Text you type into forms is masked. Up to 1 year.

To switch these off, open Cookie settings and turn off “Visit statistics”.

Advertising

Only with your agreement. These let us measure whether our Google adverts lead to orders, and show our lamps to people who have visited the shop.

  • Google Ads (_gcl_au and related Google cookies): advert measurement and remarketing. Up to 90 days.

If you choose “Essential only”, these cookies are not set. Google may still receive a cookieless signal that a page was viewed, without any identifier stored on your device.

Changing your mind

Open Cookie settings at any time to change your choices. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings; the banner will then ask again on your next visit.
